A river flower whispered to me gently
(or was it just the murmur of the river)
painful was the message she delivered
of one who had been loved, but violently
She spoke of monsters magical and massive
sexual serpents singeing her with fire
and horny unicorns of great desire
Their torments left her terrified and passive
What beast had caused this gentle flower pain?
had caused her to retreat into her fancy
where only fancied creatures could besiege her
and not the much more baneful beast called man
Now beastly traits in man is all she can see
and not the gentle man who could assuage her
