Liberal Materialists: Songs We Know

The LM's first studio project with Ross on bass was recorded at Whirled Studios in Buena Park in 1989. They went into the studio with 17 songs on three lists: Songs We Know, Dark Songs, and Songs We Might Know. They ended up recording all of them. In two marathon 12 hour sessions they did all the basic tracks and most of the leads and punch-ins. Though this economy of form shows in some of the rough edges, the quality of the songs and the coherence of the group is already apparent.
