This was my first time seeing the Retros, who play about half and half
covers and original stuff. Jeff, Joe, and Scott all sing, with Jeff and
Joe doing all the leads. Their covers are mostly 60s & 70s (e.g. Beatles,
Byrds, etc.), and the style of their originals stays in line with that.
If you were in a coma through the last 40 years and woke up and saw the
Retros, you might not know where the covers ended and the originals began.
One of their originals that I really liked was an instrumental called
Scott's Tune, which had an extrememly catchy surf-guitar hook.
If you missed `em this time, they'll be playing a regular gig one friday a month for the next several months at Brennans. Enjoy the pix - |
